    Ironman 70.3 In-Store Event

    The PPD IRONMAN 70.3 North Carolina triathlon will feature a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run. This "point-to-point-to-point-to-point" event begins in Wrightsville Beach and takes athletes along the same fast channel swim. The bike course runs through the coastal countryside outside Wilmington, and the run traverses Greenfield Lake before athletes finish in historic downtown Wilmington across from the USS North Carolina Battleship. The 2017 PPD IRONMAN 70.3 North Carolina will will offer 30 qualifying slots to the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.

    Fat Cross Beach Bash In-Store Event

    In the first event of its kind, the Fat Bike Beach Bash will have 2 formats to choose from Fat Bike Beach Triathlon - 500 meter swim, 9 Mile Fat Cross Bike, 2 mile run. Fat Bike Beach Duathlon - 2 mile run, 9 Mile Fat Cross Bike, 2 mile run. Starting at Ocenanic Pier on Wrightsville Beach, the event will start on low tide to make the best use of the hard pack exposed by the receding tide. This event will be the most fun you have ever had in a triathlon, guaranteeing you to have the biggest grin from ear to ear to the finish. The course is completely void from any motorized vehicles and if you have any over corrections, the sand makes for a soft landing. Adding our unique beach furniture and a few challenges to mix it up in front of your family and friends, will make the fun meter go into overdrive when you pass them every 5-8 minutes on the 1 mile bike loop.

    Son Run 5K In-Store Event

    The 19th Annual Son Run race takes participants from the Wrightsville Beach Park and Recreation Center along flat surface scenic loop course around Wrightsville Beach. The race benefits 2 charities with primary focus on children; Methodist Home for Children & Congregations for Children (C4C). The race takes place on October 28, 2017. The finish line consists of a celebration with awards including Gift Certificates for Top Overall Finisher (male/female) and coveted Son Run Pies for Top Finishers in designated age groups. Ribbons will be awarded to all Kids’ Fun Run Race Finishers.

    This Thanksgiving come out in support of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity to Burn Calories & Build Homes! Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity assists families in the Cape Fear region towards the purchase of a Habitat Home through an affordable mortgage. For the past several years, the WB Turkey Trot has raised enough funds to build an entire house for a local family to purchase on terms they can afford. In fact, Brittani, the Habitat Future Homeowner who will be building and purchasing the Turkey Trot house (sponsored through the funds raised at the 2016 Turkey Trot) is breaking ground on July 15! Be sure to stay tuned for updates on the progress of this house build.     Welcome to the third annual “Run Oak Island” event that includes the 1 Mile Run/Walk, 5K, Half Marathon & Full Marathon! This will also be the first event in the 2018 BAM Race Series! We are excited to host the area’s only Full Marathon and all finishers will earn the first piece to the Worlds Largest Race Series Medal! All followed by a fun after party at Middleton park. The full marathon race will kick things off at 6:15am, followed by the half marathon at 7:00am, 5K starting at 7:15am and 1 mile fun run/walk at 8:00am. We hope you will join us for Run Oak Island and possibly for the entire 2018 BAM Series!

The run is 6 miles through a perfect mixture of beautiful pine forest and well-maintained trails. The Blue Clay course is a great mixture of what our area offers in trail running. Fast flowing start, challenging rooty section and some nice challenging switchbacks and hills for the back half of the course. It provides an awesome experience with a challenge to break out of your comfort zone. Very convenient from all areas in Wilmington and the surrounding areas. Some of the area’s best trails and everything that you love about trail running.

    The NHRMC Wrightsville Beach Marathon Madnessis more than a race…with world class shopping, beautiful beaches, famous restaurants and a historic downtown waterfront, why make it just a race when you can make it a memorable race experience? It is March and what better these than Marathon Madness! Registration is now open for the 9th Annual NHRMC Marathon Marathon Madness Weekend. All races are set to kick off at 7:00 p.m, Friday, March 16th, 2018, with the Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Marathon Relay Saturday morning March 17th. The event will be the largest participatory timed race in the Wilmington/Cape Fear area, and is expected to draw 4,000 competitors from dozens of states, and a spectator crowd of roughly 15,000. Throughout this fast, flat, Boston Qualifier course, runners will be able to enjoy the scenic coastal views of Wrighsville Beach, Landfall Community, Airlie, and UNCW.     Loop The Lake Extended 5K/10K/1 Mile Fun Run In-Store Event

    The North Carolina Azalea Festival “Loop The Lake” Extended 5K/10K/1 Mile Fun Walk is an annual event hosted by the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. Kids, dogs, and costumes are welcome! All proceeds from this event benefit the Cape Fear Volunteer Center Big Buddy Program. Big Buddy is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches “at-risk” youth ages 6-16 in New Hanover County and Brunswick County with positive adult role models. Youth are identified as “at-risk” due to the following circumstances: involvement with the juvenile justice system, excessive in-school and/or out-of-school suspensions, poor academic performance, and lack of positive role models. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center is a 501c3 and works to recruit and train volunteers, match volunteers with youth, offer support and guidance through case management, and provide monthly group activities.
