Blue Clay Breakout is a locally owned and operated race that started out of an idea and a love for running trails. The run is 6 miles through a perfect mixture of beautiful pine forest and well-maintained trails. The Blue Clay course is a great mixture of what our area offers in trail running. Fast flowing start, challenging rooty section and some nice challenging switchbacks and hills for the back half of the course. It provides an awesome experience with a challenge to break out of your comfort zone. Very convenient from all areas in Wilmington and the surrounding areas. Some of the area’s best trails and everything that you love about trail running.

The North Carolina Azalea Festival “Loop The Lake” Extended 5K/10K/1 Mile Fun Walk is an annual event hosted by the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. Kids, dogs, and costumes are welcome! All proceeds from this event benefit the Cape Fear Volunteer Center Big Buddy Program. Big Buddy is a one-on-one mentoring program that matches “at-risk” youth ages 6-16 in New Hanover County and Brunswick County with positive adult role models. Youth are identified as “at-risk” due to the following circumstances: involvement with the juvenile justice system, excessive in-school and/or out-of-school suspensions, poor academic performance, and lack of positive role models. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center is a 501c3 and works to recruit and train volunteers, match volunteers with youth, offer support and guidance through case management, and provide monthly group activities.
